English: Warning: this building wobbles Sarah Robinson House in Queen Street. About 20 years ago I visited an elderly parishioner from the nearby church who had been marooned by a failing lift. Notwithstanding a climb up to the 19th floor with two heavy bags of groceries, once inside I could not help but notice that each little gust of wind caused the building to shake alarmingly. "Oh," said the old boy cheerfully "you should have been up here during The Great Storm of '87- I thought I was going to die!". |
