English: Warning sign, Bangor. Warning sign by the shoreline at the Seacliff Road in Bangor.
The sign warns of stranding by the incoming tide and is located at an outcrop known locally as 'Mackerel Rocks' which, as the name suggests, are one of the best places to fish for mackerel in the area. There are several of these signs, erected last year, but this didn't stop two young men who had become marooned by rising tides whilst fishing and who had to be rescued by Bangor Lifeboat - see http://www.rnli.org.uk/who_we_are/press_centre/news_releases/news_release_detail?articleid=459029 and 1338133. |
