Summary edit

Description Plac Zamkowy Royal Castle in Warsaw that formerly served throughout the centuries as the official residence of the Polish monarchs. First Castle was built in 1598-1619, but demolished by Swedish army in 1655-56, then slowly rebuilt in 18th/19th century. Burned and looted by the Nazi Germans following the Invasion of Poland in 1939 and almost completely destroyed in 1944, the Castle was completely rebuilt and reconstructed in 1971-84
