| Description |
English: Wartime Bunker. This WW2 bunker has no gun ports because it used to house a generator and a pump for circulating diesel through a network of pipes in the marshes. During an air aid alert the pump would be started and the fuel ignited to encourage the bombers to offload their bombs into the mud rather than an explosives factory a few miles away. There is a concrete shed nearby that used to house the diesel tank I failed to photograph that!!. You can see inside at 1444167. Today it is well camouflaged with brambles |
