English: Plastic is used for many things. Packaging in particular is made of plastic, like this yoghurt pot. Until you can eat it, CO2 is produced in many places: the plastic for the yoghurt pot is made from crude oil. That must be extracted from the earth and taken to factories. There it is made into plastic and the yoghurt cups are made. When you have eaten the yoghurt, the CO2 emissions continue. If it ends up in the normal garbage, the waste incineration produces a lot of CO2. That's better than in the environment, because there it takes several hundred years to rot. Best of all, he ends up in the recycling waste. More than half of packaging waste is recycled. This is where CO2 is produced again: The recycling waste is picked up by the garbage truck. The content sorted with machines. Granulate is made from plastic, from which new plastic products are made. As you can see, a yoghurt cup causes CO2 in many places |
