Was this George Harrison's amplifier ? Vox AC30 as used by the Beatles in their early days. - A Hard Days Nights - Was this George Harrison's amplifier ?
Beatles memorabilia collector Stan Cargill found this
amplifier in a shed only a few streets away from
George Harrison's old home in Hunt's Cross.
The amp is a Vox AC30 as used by the Beatles in their
early days. Found with the amp were two silver
microphines and leads stamped ‘West Germany’ and
even some signed Beatles photographs.
Sae Leach, who promoted the band between 1961
and 1962, is certain the amp belonged to the Fab Four.
“I have no doubt about it” Sam said. “I remember them
using this little amp wherever they went—not that you
could hear anything for all the screaming girls!”
Whether this amplifier was used by the Beatles will
remain a mystery. It is on display with kind permission
of Mr. Carghill as an example of the style of amplifiers
used by the Beat bands in the 1960s.
