Description
English: In 1971 on it's way to the Far East HMS Cleopatra took part in the Port du Beira blockade. During the blockade HMS Cleopatra's Wasp helecopter, No.463, encountered an engine failure at high altitude. A perfect crash landing occured at sea and the aircraft was recovered after the floatation bags prevented it sinking. Crew and passengers were rescued uninjured, shaken and wet. Unable to winch the craft onto the flight deck the Wasp was strapped to the ships side. It was demounted onto a floating pontoon when Cleopatra reached RAF Gan in the Mauldives.
