Description
English: Waterfall above Peggy's Pool in Habbies Howe This spot in the valley of the North Esk is reputed to be the place where the poet Allan Ramsay (1686-1758) had Peggy, his heroine in his Romantic Comedy "The Gentle Shepherd" (1725), and her friend Jenny doing their laundry and fancying a swim. The river here forms the boundary between Midlothian and borders.
