English: Waterfall at site of old quarry. The 1899 OS map annotates this area as an "old quarry". Sadly, the area at the foot of the falls appears to have been used as a dump in more recent times. In addition, although I spotted these falls from a nearby footpath, the area at its base is filled with trees; I had to get much closer in order to obtain a less obstructed and litter-free view.
This waterfall, located at the northern end of the area, does not appear to be shown on any maps, however, at 20 to 30 feet high, it was worth clambering down the steep slope, and then negotiating the unsightly mess in between, to take a closer look. From a pool at the base of the falls, the stream continues towards Denovan Road. See 1747693, which shows that stream, and which also includes a more distant view of the waterfall. |
