Description
English: Wave Wall, Winchelsea Beach Sea defences built in the 1930s that stretched from here to Cliff End that consisted of a wooden wave wall which would have been boarded up then behind it a light railway ran along the beach depositing shingle as and when it was needed. It was abandoned during World War Two when the defences were deliberately breached in order to flood the hinterland to prevent invasion. A new clay and concrete wall was constructed from 1947-52.
