Nederlands: Den Hert, een gebouw uit 1603 met dikke muren en grote kelders heette Voormalig maalderij Den Haspel eens Den Herberg, De Afspanning, De Brouwerij en Het Herenhuis. De bouwheer van het pand was Peter proost, rentmeester van de toenmalige heer van Wechelderzande Conrad Schetz die in 1642 door de Spaanse koning in de adelstand werd verheven. In 1617 verkoopt Peter Proost Den Hert aan zijn
zoon Johan de Proost, bouwer van hod d'Intere. In 1682 verkopen de erfgenamen van Johan de proost Den Hert wegens geldgebrek. In 1753 komt de onderwijzersfamilie Vereet in het bezit van het gebouw. Tot 1948 werd het gebouw gebruikt als brouwerij, herberg en herenhuis.
