English: Looking east from Symonds Street over Wellesley Street East towards Grafton Gully in Auckland, New Zealand. The trusses look like they are supposed to be the type of structure that gradually accommodate drivers to daylight again, but in fact likely aren't (because the northwestern end of the 'tunnel' under Symonds Street does not have them, even though, if at all, it would be more likely to be needed there). Most likely, they are support trusses to support the inward-facing pressures of the two retaining walls. |
