Description A Westinghouse J40 jet engine in 1952. It was a turbojet engine intended by the U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics in early 1946 to power several fighter aircraft. The engine was rated at 7,500 lbf (33 kN) of thrust at sea level static conditions. However, the engine never became operational and was cancelled in 1955.
