English: Wetland below Birky Bank The Tyne Water occupies a glen far larger than would be expected for a small burn. Glacial meltwater is a likely source of the erosion here. The flat floor of the gorge is occupied by wetland, some growing alders, some open marsh as shown here beneath Crichton Castle.
The path across the floor of the glen was surprisingly dry. |
