Summary edit

Description Carried on ocean currents, fishing debris can travel across the globe and entangle marine life like humpback whales. Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary leads the Hawaiian Islands Entanglement Response Network, which coordinates large whale entanglement responses around Hawai‘i. Here, a network member works to remove nearly 800 feet of cable from a whale off Maui.
