Area from Galle to Mirissa is famous for Whale watching tours. By far the safest is Sri Lanka Navy's dedicated vessel Princes of Sri Lanka. You got to be quite unlucky not to see a Whale or two during these trips carried out at the right season. Seeing Dolphins is a bonus.
