English: East window of St Michael the Archangel parish church, Two Mile Hill, Bristol, England. Arnold Robinson made the stained glass in 1950. It is a traceried three-light window. In the trefoil at the top is a winged dove. Below are two quatrefoils. In one is a ram caught in a thorned thicket (Genesis 22:13) and the “Agnus Dei” in the other. At the top of the left hand light the Blessed Virgin Mary kneels in prayer and looks up towards the centre light and the figure of Christ. Below is the Annunciation with the Archangel Gabriel appearing to Mary and the inscription “Hail, Mary, full of grace.” Above the Blessed Virgin Mary is a flower vase containing lilies. In the centre light is Christ in Glory in a mandorla, his right hand raised in blessing. He shows the wounds of his crucifixion on his hands and feet. Below is the infant Christ in a manger with the words “The word was made flesh”. At the top of the right light on the right is Joseph who also looks up to the centre light and to the figure of Christ, Above him are his hammer and chisel. Joseph holds the flowering rod and a set-square. Below is Mary on a donkey and holding the Infant Christ and led by Joseph with the words “Arise, Flee into Egypt”. Below the three lights and running from left to right are the words “His kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom". |
