Description
English: Windsock at Ogbourne Pumping Station It's quite normal to see a windsock like this at a water treatment works. It's a safety device.

The water from the chalk boreholes at this site is about as clean as it gets, but just to make sure it gets a shot of chlorination anyway.

In the unlikely event of a chlorine gas escape, the windsock warns in which direction the gas will move.
