Summary edit

Description
English: Winkles below the Witches' Cauldron Large numbers of edible winkles or periwinkles (Littorina littorea) are to be found at low tide on the rocks of Traeth Bach below the Witches' Cauldron - and make indeed a good addition anyone's cauldron, for, after boiling, they can be winkled out of their shells and eaten as they are or added to a breakfast fry-up. When left high and dry by the receding tide the winkle's operculum, a hard disc, seals the opening of its shell and prevents desiccation.
