DescriptionWinning, near North Blyth geograph-2873895-by-Ben-Brooksbank.jpg |
English: Engine & brakevan at Winning, near North Blyth. In 1965, coal is still being brought to the staithes at North Blyth, by trains worked by the surviving ex-NER 0-6-0s and 0-8-0s. Here ex-NER W. Worsdell class P3 (LNER J27) No. 65804 - one of the last surviving steam locomotives in the NE Area, is running with brakevan back to the collieries from the staithes: it was built in 8/1908 as No. 1007, became LNER No. 5804 in 1946 and survived until 7/67! |
