Description
English: Wives of three Wellington KCs who were among local legal wives collaborating in the first hospitality 'cuppa' extended to visiting wives of the profession who accompanied their husbands to the first conference of the New Zealand Law Society held since 1938. Official responsibilities as hostess-in-chief devolved on Mrs Philip Cooke (on right; Valmai Cooke), wife of the president. Mrs John O'Shea (centre; Lily O'Shea) and Mrs H E Evans (wife of the Solicitor General; Ella Mary Evans) partner her. Information on original print identifies the woman in the centre as Mrs H G R Mason. The high-resolution version held on Tiaki allows zooming in and her name badge shows "Mrs J. O'Shea".
