Summary edit

Description
English: Woodland (or Midland) Hawthorn at Thorndon Park Woodland Hawthorn (Crataegus laevigata) is largely confined to ancient woodland, of which there are many in Essex. It differs from the common hawthorn in having two seeds in the fruit and two styles in the flower (which you cannot really see in the photo). The leaves differ in that only the outer part is lobed. In the common hawthorn, the entire leaf is lobed.
