English: Woodside of Cairnty. Trig pillar in the vast plantations that cover the former moors around here. The Speyside way passes by, but in the manner of Scottish LDPs, it does its best not to upset the powers that be by sticking to the tarmac for miles.
Woodside of Cairnty is a nearby farm. Triangulation pillars are never placed in woodland as they rely on views. The OS list of triangulation stations often assigns the name of the farm that they are on, suggesting that this part of the forest was once farmed from Woodside of Cairnty before being planted. |
