| Description |
English: Woodsome Road, Farnley Tyas, Yorkshire. This view is looking eastwards from the entrance to Woodsome Hall. It is 'Road' not 'Lane' and has been constructed with an even gradient and a gentle curve, all signs that it is a diversion of an old lane that went through the estate. This is confirmed by reference to Jefferys's map of 1771, which shows the road as passing close by the hall and entering Farnely Tyas village via Field Lane. The new road is shown on the OS map of 1850. |
