Description
English: Worcester and Birmingham Canal approaching Gas Street Basin The canals in central Birmingham have been smartened up and the surroundings developed in recent years in order to make them attractive to use, to live by and trade by. Visitor moorings are good here, but arrive early, because when they're gone, it's not so easy to find a safe place to leave your boat while you explore the city. Just ahead is where the Worcester and Birmingham Canal terminated when it was built in the early 1790s. Any images of this scene before the 1990s will be welcomed on this website.
