Summary
editDescriptionWorks train at Scarva - geograph.org.uk - 1633991.jpg |
English: Works train at Scarva From time to time during the 1970’s various parts of the Belfast – Dublin railway were damaged by bombs. The Dernaroy aqueduct, near the Border, was one of the favourite targets. This works train (passing Scarva station) conveyed a replacement (nearest the locomotive), the steam crane to lift it into place and some brown vans with equipment. A secondary point of interest is that the bay platform, formerly used by trains on the branch to Banbridge, was clearly visible at upper right. J0643 : Scarva Station shows a more recent view from the same bridge. |
