Summary

Description
English: A schematic of the first obstacle a player will come across when playing the 1985 Nintendo platform game Super Mario Bros. In the side-scrolling game, Mario has to run and jump from left to right to get past various obstacles. Each square represents a square sprite; each fits perfectly on a grid.

Legend:

  • Green blocks, black tiled underground: solid object that cannot be destroyed at the start of the game.
  • Golden blocks: Hitting these from below gives the player one coin. Collecting coins allows the player to obtain additional lives.
  • Red circle: an enemy "Goomba" that slowly walks to the left. If it hits Mario from the side, Mario loses a life, though if Mario jumps on top of it, the enemy disappears.
  • Green circle: A power-up that appears once Mario hits the golden block from below. This power-up then moves to the right and drops off the platform. The power-up turns around when it hits the green obstacle to the right and subsequently starts moving left. This makes it difficult to dodge once it starts moving.

This image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “World 1-1 obstacle schematic.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
