Description

Edward Pinkney was a signaller in the Wellington Infantry Battalion, B Company and served on the Western Front during World War I. His diary gives insight into his experiences and observations of war. He published the diary in 1925.

Pinkney was born in Masterton on 3 February 1895 and his occupation was given as motor engineer. He signed up on 4 February 1916 aged 19.
