Description
English: Wreck of the Rameses II in the Severn, between Sharpness and Lydney Harbour. The Rameses II was an Egyptian ship with 7,000 tons of Russian grain, bound for Sharpness. On 23rd March 1951 it grounded on a sandbank. The crew walked ashore at low tide, but the ship broke its back. The cargo was salvaged and most of the ship gradually cut up over the following years.
