| Description |
Wellington 'L7775' was operated by 20OTU and based at RAF Lossiemouth. On 24th October 1940 it was on a night navigation exercise. At about 21:00 it crashed into Bruach Mhor on Beinn a' Bhuird when the pilot mistook the snow covered mountain for cloud. Five of the seven crew survived the crash. Pilot Officer Herbert Coombs and Sergeant Frank Hutson lost their lives. Substantial wreckage has been recovered and is on display at the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre.
