Description
Nederlands: De Martyrersgedächtnisstätte in der Krypta (herdenkingsschrijn voor de Martelaars in de krypte) in de Dom van Xanten (Duitsland). De krypte werd in 1966 naar de plannen van Trude Cornelius naar het westen uitgebreid, zodat de slachtoffers van het nationaalsocialisme, die hier zijn bijgezet, geëerd konden worden. De westelijke wand werd door Heinrich Bücker ontworpen en bevat de sarcofagen van Gerhard Storm en Heinz Bello, en herinnert tegelijkertijd aan de offers van Wilhelm Frede, Heinrich Maria Verweyen en de in 2001 zalig verklaarde Nikolaus Gross.

De westelijke wand bevat ook urnen met aarde uit de kampen Auschwitz, Dachau en Bergen-Belsen, die als vertegenwoordigers werden gekozen voor alle plaatsen waar nationaalsocialistische gruweldaden plaatsvonden. De sarcofaag van Karl Leisner, die in 1944 in Dachau tot priester werd gewijd en in 1996 zalig werd verklaard werd aan de zuidelijke wand in een betonelement geplaatst.

Portretten en biografieën van deze martelaren aan de wanden herinneren aan hun offer.
English: Martyrersgedächtnisstätte in der Krypta (Martyr's Remebrance Shrine) in the crypt of Xanten Cathedral. The crypt was enlarged towards the west in 1966 after the plans of Trude Cornelius, making it possible to honour the victims of national socialism, who are buried here. The west wall was designed by heinrich Bücker and contains tha sarcofagi of Gerhard Storm and Heinz Bello, and remebers the sacrifices of Wilhelm Frede, Heinrich Maria Verweyen and Nikolaus Gross, who was beatified in 2001. The west wall also contains urns with soil from the camps of Auschwitz, Dachau and Bergen-Belsen representing all places where the nazi's committed atrocities.

The sarcofagus of Karl Leisner, who was ordained priest in Dachau in 1944 was put in a concrete element in the south wall.

Portraits and biographies of these martyrs bring hommage to their sacrifices.
