Description

Yamaha GL-1 Guitalele - front view

Since I acquired this in the summer of 2012, the Yamaha guitalele has become one of my favourite instruments - portable, robust (relatively-speaking), attractive-sounding and generally a great "go-to" instrument for songwriting, demo-recording and casual playing. Tuned ADGCEA (low to high), it's like a baby Spanish guitar tuned a fifth higher (like a "normal" guitar with a capo on the fifth fret), or alternatively, like a tenor ukulele with two additional bass strings (the A and D below the CGEA). I've had mine modified with a transducer pickup and an extra strap button behind the heel - Yamaha really ought to make an extra model available with those features...
