| Description |
English: Derby - Lowestoft express entering Yarmouth Beach Station. View NW, towards Melton Constable; ex-Midland & Great Northern Joint lines. This is one of the many Summer Saturday expresses that conveyed holiday-makers from the Midlands to the East Coast resorts by the M&GN system, through Bourne, Spalding, South Lynn and Melton Constable, until 1958 - the whole system being closed in March 1959. The express is headed by D16/3 'Super-Claud' 4-4-0 No. 62561; the train will be reversed here and continue to Lowestoft by the Norfolk & Suffolk Joint line. Behind it can be seen two ex-GE B12/3 4-6-0's in the Locomotive Yard. |
