Description
English: Yew tree and Goddard family tomb, in Holy Rood churchyard, The Lawn, Swindon. The Goddards who lords of the manor in Old Town, Swindon. They owned large tracts of land in the area and lived near the church in an 18th century manor house. The house was requisitioned in the Second World War and served as a billet for US troops. By the time the war was over and the US troops returned home the house was a wreck and was demolished.
