Description
English: For millions of years, the volcanoes of the Central Anatolian Plateau erupted and created wondrous landscape of Cappadocia, Turkey. The first period of settlement within the region reaches to Roman period of Christianity era. In the image you can see a fresco of Onuphrius (bearded figure) in Yilanli (Snake) Church dating back to 11th century.
The image was taken by Brocken Inaglory. The picture was taken in April of 2006.
