| Description |
English: A view of the south side of the 54 metre high Yorkshire Wheel, that was installed at the National Railway Museum in York. It was sited 53°57′35.81″N 1°5′44.42″W / 53.9599472°N 1.0956722°W next to and in line with the southern wall of the museum's Great Hall. Construction started in March 2006 (pictured here before the pods were attached) and the wheel operated from 12 April 2006 until 2 November 2008, being dismantled shortly afterwards. The view here is from the turning circle outside the museum's City Entrance (the glass building). Bottom right is the back end of the museum's trackless train that runs from here to the city centre. |
