| Description |
English: Whit Monday Huddersfield - Saltburn Excursion leaving York. View westward from the north end of York Station - towards the south on the ECML because the Station curves round, with the sidings of Branches Yard seen ahead on the right. The Excursion train is headed by Hughes/Fowler 5P4F 2-6-0 No. 42861 (built 1930 as No. 13161, withdrawn 6/66) and seems to be heading for the Down Main Line, i.e. towards Northallerton, where it will turn off on the line to Eaglescliffe and Tees-side. It was very unusual for an LMS engine to work down the ECML north of York, but it may have been booked to be changed over at Clifton - round the corner. |
