Description
English: Two U. S. Navy Douglas TBD-1 Devastators, each carrying two 227 kg (500 lb) bombs, of torpedo squadron VT-5 from the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown (CV-5) prepare to attack Japanese shipping off of Lae-Salamaua in the Huon Gulf on 10 March 1942. Faintly visible below two Japanese ships, probably the Noshiro Maru and Hagoromo Maru, are laying smoke screens.
