English: Map of the regions associated with the name "Zambezia" (and similar ones). The name for countries around the Zambezi River has been in popular use in the 19th century, but was ill-defined and fell out of use.

Territorial definitions include:

  • The drainage basin of the Zambezi River (depicted in green, overlapping with other definitions)
  • "Rhodesia" was initially named "Zambezia" (also British Central Africa), then divided into
    • North Zambezia (Northern Rhodesia), today the state of Zambia
    • South Zambezia (Southern Rhodesia), today the state of Zimbabwe
  • Zambezia is a province of Mozambique
  • Zambezi is a region of Namibia on the Caprivi panhandle
  • "Zambesia" is what some Botswanan activists wish to erect as a self-proclaimed state in Northern Botswana and Eastern Namibia. Depicted is a irredentist maximal position.
  • The Zambezian Bioregion is depicted in the definition after White (1983)
