Summary edit

Description
English: The Ogu (or Egun) people of Benin, Togo, and Nigeria traditionally worship zangebto as nighttime voodoo guardians. The Zangbeto cult, a traditional police and security institution, is in charge of upholding law and order and ensuring safety and security among Ogu communities. They are highly respected and serve as an unofficial police force, patrolling the streets, especially at night, keeping an eye on residents and their possessions, looking out for offenders, and bringing them before the community for punishment. Originally created to scare the enemy away, Zangbeto will wander the streets to detect thieves and witches, and to protect law and order.
