Description
Deutsch: Atmosphärische Gaskraftmaschine (um 1880) hinter dem Zeuner-Bau der TU Dresden, Helmholtzstr.
Als Vorläufer der heutigen Verbrennungsmotoren geht die als technisches Denkmal aufgestellte atmosphärische Gaskraftmaschine auf Nikolaus Otto (1842-1891) und Eugen Lange (1833-1895) zurück. In der Gas- und Motorenfabrik Köln-Deutz wurde die 1866 patentierte Erfindung seit 1872 in einer Stückzahl von ca. 5000 hergestellt. Die Gaskraftmaschine mit Zahnstange und Schwungrad wurde mit Leuchtgas betrieben und brachte bei einer Drehzahl von 80 bis 100 U/min eine Leistung von ca. 3 – 4 PS. Sie wurde vor allem als Antrieb im Kleingewerbe eingesetzt.
