| Description | Thatched roofs of a homestead in eastern Zimbabwe rising from among the rocks like part of the landscape. Hardly surprising, since these traditionally built houses use local mud in their walls and grass for the roofs. The relationship between natural and built environments in rural Zimbabwe is, strangely enough, reminiscent of the Scottish city of Edinburgh, where stone buildings seem to grow out of the native rock. Taken April 1995 on film. |
