typo Grandavik

edit

Please rename the description "Grandavik" for correctly "Grindavík" ("i" instead of "a", with an accent on the last "i"). --Kuhni74 (talk) 19:51, 19 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

... and a link to Commons Gallery Grindavík? --LudwigSebastianMicheler (talk) 02:53, 20 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

town in background

edit

@Rémih: are you really sure that in the background, Vogar is visible? The fissure rather points towards Reykjavík, or at least its western suburbs. If you compare File:Iceland Volcano Eruption 19 December 2023.jpg, you can see that Vogar is situated further west (left). --Kuhni74 (talk) 14:21, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Maybe @Steinninn: can help? --Kuhni74 (talk) 14:22, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Considering the disposition of the fissures, the view is toward the south so it might be Grindavik instead of Vogar. Rémih (talk) 14:42, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that may be right. And what's more, it's reasonable to assume that the wind was blowing from the western direction on both photographs. Since the smoke is blown to the left on this picture, it has to be the view towards south. --Kuhni74 (talk) 14:53, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Yes, that's Grindavík. I had tried to tag it the other day but the image was protected by the German Wikipedia (because it was on the front page?). --Steinninn ♨ 15:16, 22 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Steinninn: thank you! Yes, it was on the German front page. --Kuhni74 (talk) 00:01, 23 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
