Date of Certificate?
editCaptain en:Ernesto Burzagli was given command of the Italian cruiser, RN Libia, in 1917. The translation mentions command of the Second Squadron, which may date from this period. From February 1921 to February 1923, he commanded the Libia as she circumnavigated the globe. It seems likely that the citation specifically references this Italian naval vessel rather than the Berber territory of North Africa, which was known during Burzagli's lifetime by different names:
- 16th century - 1912, en:Ottoman en:wilayat of en:Tripolitania, en:Cyrenaica and en:Fezzan
- 1912-1927, Italian North Africa
- 1927-1934, en:Italian Cyrenaica and en:Italian Tripolitania
- 1934-1947, Italian colony of en:Lybia
I wonder if there could be a translation error from the Arabic text in the attributed date of 18 Rabia 1312? --Tenmei (talk) 15:29, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
- I think the same. Any suggestions?--Giorgiomonteforti (talk) 19:13, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
- In the Burzagli's archive there is a translation of the certificate made by someone for the admiral himself. We will work on it--Giorgiomonteforti (talk) 21:38, 22 October 2008 (UTC)
the correct traslation is now online:
