The two most prominent generals in this photo are von Kuchler (center) and von Arnim (right); the right-most figure is NOT von Leeb as I believe is credited. There appears to be a third general looking through binoculars at top whose face is not visible; perhaps this is von Leeb. [This comment was originally posted by I.P. No, it's Leeb. It couldn't be von Arnim, as at that time (11 Oct 1941) he was commanding the 17th Panzer Division, which as assigned to Guderian's 2nd Panzer Army, and after participating in the encirclement of Kiev, was in the process of moving back into position to charge toward Moscow. So if it were von Arnim, he'd be really, really lost (Of course he could be there asking for directions...).
But it is often difficult to know for sure if a person is really so-and-so. Just look at how different Hermann Balck looks from the front versus his profile. __170.253.143.35 05:47, 11 December 2021 (UTC)Reply
