There was no canal between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. The Main Line of Public Works was completed in 1834, and was a railroad east of Harrisburg, with another railroad over the Alleghenies. Part of the Delaware and Hudson Canal Company's line was similarly a railroad, near Bethany. --NE2 (talk) 17:05, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
