When writing picture captions, it is generally necessary to look hard at what you are writing about. If the German implies "restoration", then that is not the same as "replacement". This is not a "replacement" gargoyle. It is an old gargoyle with its damaged features restored. Looking at the image itself will inform the reader. Pale coloured stone means either recent flaking or recent renewal. In this case it is clear that the wing and the leg have crisp new detail and are replacements, not like the head which shows spots of surface deterioration.
