The color scheme is wrong. The blue should be more brighter. --199.203.67.148

Do read http://flagspot.net/flags/il_color.html. The darker blue is apparently preferred. It could probably be lightened some, though, while remaining "dark". ¦ Reisio 20:32, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
This Israeli government site on the emblems uses a lighter blue. FWIW - government sites aren't always correct. ¦ Reisio 20:39, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
You're saying government sites aren't always correct, but a commercial site which bases its information on only one source, and even notes that it is hard to decide the real colors of the flag, is always correct? The flag must be lighter, in the sort of Image:Flag of Israel light.svg. I'd even suggest moving here the light version, and moving this version to Image:Flag of Israel dark.svg. I think all the Israelis shall agree with me, and we count more than any "flag research" site when you ask for the official color of the flag of Israel. The flags of government buildings are as light as the "Flag of Israel light" version. Yellow up 21:31, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't see that in my post. If you do, I suggest an eye exam.
I see no immediate problem with switching to the blue used in Image:Flag of Israel light.svg. ¦ Reisio 22:22, 1 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Nothing to thank me for. This is a wiki - it's a community effort and that was my 2cents. ¦ Reisio 22:53, 2 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone go take a screenshot of the official flag, get the color (eyedropper tool), implement and upload it. Period.--HereToHelp (talk) 02:49, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

Three periods in a row is a bit silly. ¦ Reisio 09:29, 5 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I have an Israeli flag that was sent to me from the Israeli town of Haifa. The color blue that I have on this flag is darker than the shade that we currently have now. Dov Gutterman, an Israeli flag expert at FOTW (and the gentleman who sent me the Israeli flag) said that the blue used in the Israeli flag is dark blue (Tkhelet Ke'he in Hebrew), but the exact shade that is asked for is not stated in Israeli law. However, a book cited by FOTW a lot, Album des Pavillons 2000, cites the shade of Pantone 280c, which is also used on the UK, AU and NZ flags, to name a few. Zach (Smack Back) 02:42, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I took some pics of my Israeli flag, and from what I could check, the color I get is #242f6d. I will try this out, but if this does not work, yall can revert. Zach (Smack Back) 03:51, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Scratch that, I am going to use a different shade, since the Magen David is darker than the two strips on the Israeli flag (I just noticed this tonight). Zach (Smack Back) 03:57, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, but the shade of the Israeli flag is lighter. Your mistake comes from wrong translation, "Tkhelet" (תכלת) in Hebrew is not blue, but a sky-shade of navy. The flag colour is dark Tkhelet or alternatively light blue. See for example the following pics in google flag search or this picture or this picture. Trust me on that, I am an Israeli and I know my flag. MathKnight 15:58, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
No need to apologize. However, can I send my pics of the Israeli flag to you? While the photo appears dark, the flag I got was a very dark shade. I also think the flag passed out by the Israeli Embassy in the US is also a dark blue. Zach (Smack Back) 02:32, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
I also noticed he:תמונה:Israel-flag01.jpg. While this shade appears lighter than the flag I have, it should be suffice to note that there are variants of the national flag that are different in the areas of color and ratio. I will be happy with even that. Zach (Smack Back) 02:41, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
The current color might not be the real one, but it's as close as it can get (frankly, I copied the color from the colors of Israel flag large.png). I don't mind if you try something out, although it may be better at Image:Flag of Israel temporary.svg. It'd be a good idea to ask the Ministry of the Interior, or the Israeli embassy for the official RGB colors. Yellow up 11:53, 15 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Your friend Dov is wrong. Tkhelet is a very light sky blue, so "Tkhelet Ke'he" is a less light sky blue shade. I don't know what flag you have, but all the flags I've seen which were made after 1970 were in a light blue color. If you don't believe me go visit Israel and see for yourself. With regards, Yellow up 17:11, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Do you mind if we revert it for the time being? Perhaps add a Image:Flag of Israel temporary.svg for the sake of the discussion, although I'm certain the color is light. Yellow up 17:35, 13 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Go ahead. I will not fight about the shade, I presented my case and lost, so I will try now to find out what is going on. Zach (Smack Back) 02:33, 14 February 2006 (UTC)Reply

This svg file is exemplary edit

Nice job to whomever composed this SVG file. It contains comments that justify every decision, and is designed to be easily edited. I particularly like how the two triangles come from the same declaration. All SVG flags should be this good. --P3d0 05:22, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. The SVG is excellent. Image:Flag of the United Kingdom.svg (one of the versions I remember, at least) and a few others fall into the "elegently coded" category too. Bravo to all involved! 118.90.104.151 23:24, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

More image notes (version of 16:35, 13 August 2008) edit

The current version of the image (version of 16:35, 13 August 2008) fixes a bug that led to improper rendering in Apple Safari version 3.1.2, which has a buggy SVG implementation. The color of the Magen David and stripes was also adjusted from #0040c0 (red-green-blue triplet expressed in hexadecimal) to #0038b8. I’ve been agonizing over the proper color to use since last December, and especially since this past May after seeing tons of flags on Yom Ha‘atzma’ut. When blown up to full size, #0040c0 looks too light; in contrast, a deeper shade such as #0030b0 looks far better at full size, but looks too dark at smaller sizes, which represents the overwhelming majority of cases in which the image appears in Wikipedia. As a compromise, the average of these two colors, #0038b8, has been used for the current version of the image, so that the image decently approximates Israeli flags at all resolutions. (Furthermore, this compromise still preserves the 128-level separation between the green and blue intensities.) Note that no color will ever be perfect for all conditions, as the apparent hue depends on factors such as whether you are using a backlit LCD display vs. flat panel display, the gamma value for your particular monitor, and the ambient lighting conditions. It also depends to a surprising extent on the angle at which your backlit LCD display is viewed. Finally, the current version retains the same file size as the previous version, 1948 bytes (recalling the Proclamation of Independence). —Technion (talk) 18:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

I don't think anyone could attack that decision :p Compared to other flag files this discussion is relatively tame. At least you justify the decision and show good faith; that should cover all your bases.
That said, I think as a general rule across all images, priority should be given to official RGB specs first, then conversions of official print colours (e.g. PANTONE) but when a "standard display" is used (the British patten flags on Commons use sRGB, 6500 K white point, and other colorimetric mumbo-jumbo I guess including ambient light etc), then "educated guesses". Also probably priority should be given to colours which lend themselves to a good on-screen image rather than a printed on. 118.90.104.151 23:28, 20 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
I just received a document from the Israeli Embassy that the flag color should be yale Blue. Has anyone found something like that? User:Zscout370 (Return fire) 17:18, 19 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I request that SVG file be overwrite to File:Flag of Israel (simplified).svg. This file is a new file fixed code and reduced size by me. I can't upload overwrite new version file. If request is completed, delete to File:Flag of Israel (simplified).svg. -- Sangjinhwa (talk) 16:33, 4 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done This file was specifically created to have comments specifying information about how it was created. Your simplified version is fine as a separate file but this one is designed to be larger so it has to stay that way. --Majora (talk) 04:34, 6 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

{{Edit request}} The last time somebody uploaded an optimized file(File:Flag of Israel (simplified).svg), but it was never completed. So even though I did not upload it, I think it can replace the file after reviewing it. So I uploaded the file changed to the new modified file, I uploaded it as a smaller file. I also requested to Requested updates to protected images. Please review it again and change the file. Thank you. --Tcfc2349 (talk) 09:17, 19 June 2019 (UTC)Reply

Not done Once again. This file was created to explicitly have the codes within in. Your simplified version can exist as its own file but it will not be used to replace this one. Asking for the same thing for the same reason isn't going the change the answer that was given last time. --Majora (talk) 13:51, 20 June 2019 (UTC)Reply
