On the inclusion of this flag among the Flags of Italy edit

This is not a flag of Italy, therefore it should not bear the template and be included in the category.

It would be also nice to know why this image has been created. --TcfkaPanairjdde 15:54, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sell it to someone who's buying it. ¦ Reisio 04:29, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You just clearly showed you have no reason to include this image in the categories you inserted. --TcfkaPanairjdde 18:47, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sell it to someone who's buying it. ¦ Reisio 22:56, 18 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You still provided no reason to include this image in the categories you want. --TcfkaPanairjdde 15:43, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sell it to someone who's buying it. ¦ Reisio 21:47, 20 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

If you include them you should have some sort of reason. Would you please provide them? --TcfkaPanairjdde 01:01, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sell it to someone who's buying it. ¦ Reisio 01:12, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

This is not my flag. --Frank87 08:50, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good thing this isn't Image:Flag of Frank87.svg, then. ¦ Reisio 14:51, 21 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

I mean, this is not the flag of mine as an Italian citizen. --Frank87 11:44, 22 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Good thing this isn't Image:Flag of Frank87's as an Italian citizen.svg, then. ¦ Reisio 01:20, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Come on, Reisio. Seriously, why this flag? What's its aim? --Frank87 14:47, 23 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

To represent its namesake, quite obviously. ¦ Reisio 05:58, 24 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

In the page Image_talk:Flag of Italy.svg has been reached consensus tht the interpretation of the Italian law on the Italian flag does not agree with your interpretation. You are going against consensus. --TcfkaPanairjdde 23:37, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are mistaken, but you are also on the wrong talk page. ¦ Reisio 01:20, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Any proof of your words? You provided none untill now --TcfkaPanairjdde 14:04, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Still on the wrong talk page. ¦ Reisio 18:07, 31 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Have you got any proof that this conversion is correct, moreover after the long discussion we had in Image talk:Flag of Italy.svg? --TcfkaPanairjdde 13:37, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yup, it's linked from the source field, as I've already pointed out. ¦ Reisio 00:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

The source you linked refers to cotton not to a monitor... Moreover, there is a Pantone colour like #000000? --F l a n k e r 14:54, 2 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

We use Pantone approximations for a large amount of state flags here on Commons (probably the majority) — are you suggesting they're all wrong? :p ¦ Reisio 00:29, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Italian law is very clear (explained and tested by me n times, and there won't be a n+1th) on the subject — are you suggesting that Pantone schemes are more important than the Costituzione? Trust me, Reisio: quit this try, it's a sling-vs-atom-bomb challenge. Really, if you cast a poll about adopting this...er..."flag" as the official tricolore italiano, this is what you would get - a kind of anti-plebiscite. Call this "Technical flag of Italy", "Pantone flag of Italy" - but if you put this "thing" as the "Flag of Italy", it won't last 24 hours without being reverted, or at least declared wrong-coloured. Would you play a football game alone against the best Azzurri XI? --Frank87 13:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Italian law is very clear"
Yes, it is.
"are you suggesting that Pantone schemes are more important than the Costituzione?"
Nope, not at all.
"if you cast a poll about adopting this...er..."flag" as the official tricolore italiano'"
Why would I do that.
"Call this…"Pantone flag of Italy""
That's what I've done, only even more specifically.
"Would you play a football game alone against the best Azzurri XI?"
Don't know — what's an Azzurri XI?
¦ Reisio 20:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

are you suggesting they're all wrong?

I suggest that they are approximations. Cotton can't be white. Simply.

Are you suggesting to make, say, image:Flag of the United States.svg in grey? --F l a n k e r 16:45, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Cotton can't be white. Simply."

"Are you suggesting to make, say, image:Flag of the United States.svg in grey?"
Nope.
¦ Reisio 20:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Note: If you use Pantone color finder with the official code prescribed here (11-0601TC) you get the description Bright White.--Frazzone 17:32, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Far out — what of it? ¦ Reisio 20:36, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, I mean: can't be white like #000000. --F l a n k e r 00:34, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I always know what you guys mean. It's still fun to point out your contradictions. ¦ Reisio 15:18, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
LOL, our contradictions! We all say this is not a flag of Italy (or like you title it Bandiera della Repubblica Italiana), where is the contraddiction in this? --F l a n k e r 18:04, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

RFD edit

To cut it short, I simply lined this file for deletion. Blackcat it 17:11, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well done. --Frank87 19:30, 3 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
Very well done. This is not the Italian flag. What is that grey? --Remulazz 08:31, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Sorry guys, we don't delete images just because you don't like them. Personally, I think your making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. I mean, as someone that's not Italian or connected in any way to the flag (i.e. someone with no POV on the issue), I don't understand the issue here. If I saw this flag somewhere I would call it an Italian flag.

Maybe it's not official, but who cares? It's close enough. There are many shades of white. There are many interpretations of many things. If someone whats to make an Italian flag with four strips, let them. On Commons, we don't decide on images for people. We let them decide. Please stop all this nonsense. The description page already says it's not official, isn't that enough? Rocket000 14:00, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Upon re-reading that, I want to apologize if I sounded too harsh. I'm curious though, has this image been an issue on it.WP or something to fuel this much attention? Rocket000 14:47, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Rocket000 the issue is simple: this image is not used because it can't be. It is titled Bandiera della Repubblica Italiana (that is flag of the Italian Republic) but it is not, because the colours are wrong. They are Pantone renderings of textile colours, so approximations. Continue with this arguments is absurd, the Italian flag is not grey, is white. Like, for example, the flags of Canada, USA, Mexico, Ireland, France and so. --F l a n k e r 18:33, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I agree, continuing this argument is absurd. Rocket000 19:15, 4 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

New name edit

As only Reisio thinks this is a "Bandeira della Repubblica Italiana" it is right to call it "Reisio's version of the Flag of Italy"; therefore, I was bold and rename it. --TcfkaPanairjdde 15:19, 5 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

That means that these pantone codes are valid for polyester ("stamina (fiocco) di poliestere"), but if you use different fabrics, the result must match the colors as seen in the sample flag in "Dipartimento del Cerimoniale di Stato della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri", or the flags in prefect's offices, embassies and so on. Well, the colors of this image doesn't match the colors of real flags at all. --151.51.172.240 06:02, 10 January 2009 (UTC)Reply
