No. The function $y_{1}=-e^{-x}$ will have negative values for all real values for x and will be below the X-axis whereas the function $y_{2}=e^{-x}$ will be positive for the same values of x and will be above X-axis.--ElectroKid (talk • contribs) 19:08, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

The current description defines $\sinh$ as a linear combination involving $-e^{-x}$ rather than one involving $e^{-x}$, so that may be what Kenneth meant. I'd also say that averages are easier to visualize than "half the difference". Symplectic.Nova (talk) 14:52, 3 July 2012 (UTC)
